Back pain: symptoms, therapy, prevention

Most people have experienced back pain at least once. Pain usually occurs in the lower back. Causes can be the result of the most common cold and serious trauma.

Back pain can be constant or intermittent and acute or chronic. It depends on different cases. Common reasons for its appearance:

  • disc rupture;
  • dysmenorrhea;
  • Osteoporosis;
  • kidney stones;
  • broken posture;
  • spinal cord injury;
  • osteoarthritis;
  • appendicitis;
  • tumor;
  • Weightlifting.

The pain varies according to the disease. For example, when a disc is compressed, the pain comes on suddenly or increases gradually. It starts in the back and spreads down to the buttocks and legs. A person needs rest, because movement, sneezing, coughing only increases the pain. A disease such as appendicitis causes severe back pain. If it doesn't ease, see a doctor right away! The symptoms of endometriosis are pain and cramping in the lower back. Usually, before or during the menstrual cycle, the pain is more intense. When the back is stretched, there will be acute pain, when moving to the side, there will be muscle spasms. Rest can make you feel better.

Diagnosis of pain

It is enough for an experienced doctor to examine the spine and listen to the complaints of the patient to make a diagnosis. But there are situations where these actions alone are not enough. In these cases, special diagnostic methods are used - X-ray, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.

The treatment

Once the diagnosis is made, the following therapeutic measures are taken:

  • manual therapy;
  • injections;
  • physical therapy;
  • Acupuncture;
  • surgical treatment;
  • drug treatment;
  • medical gymnastics;
  • Massage.

Helps relieve back pain and folk remedies:

  1. Grate horseradish and mix with sour cream. Place the resulting mass on the lower back, cover with a napkin and tie a woolen scarf or shawl on top.
  2. Use St. John's wort, thyme, black elderberry and chamomile. Applying these herbs hot with a wrap will help warm your back very well if it's cold outside. The procedure is best done at night.
  3. Burdock leaves have a healing effect. Dry them first, then rinse them with boiling water and apply on the sore spot for an hour.
  4. Horse chestnut is widely used. Thoroughly grind the dried flowers into a powder, melt the lard and camphor oil, mix the ingredients in equal proportions. Spread the mixture on a piece of rye bread and apply it to the painful area.
  5. Use a compression bandage based on a garlic infusion. It is mixed with lemon juice. Dip a cotton napkin in this mixture and apply it to the painful area for 20 minutes.

Prevent

The best way to prevent back pain is to do lots of exercise. It is also important to monitor the correct posture when walking and sitting. Not only women but also men are contraindicated to lift weights.
